Message from Dr-Ing. Wahyudi Hasbi

WP-3 Science Issues Chair of APG23

As a former office bearer of the APG23 for Science Issues Working Party, it is both an honor and a privilege to extend my warmest congratulations to the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) on the momentous occasion of its 45th anniversary. This celebration is not just a reflection of the years gone by but a testament to APT's unwavering commitment to excellence, collaboration, and progress.

Over the past 45 years, APT has not only facilitated the growth of telecommunication and ICT infrastructure across the Asia-Pacific region but has also been instrumental in navigating the complex regulatory landscape that governs these sectors. The organization’s contributions to the regulation of telecommunications, encompassing science, satellite, amateur radio, and terrestrial communications, have been pivotal. Through its work, APT has helped harmonize regulations, ensuring that the Asia-Pacific region can fully leverage the benefits of technological advancements while addressing the unique challenges posed by rapid innovation. APT also has ensured that the region remains at the cutting edge of technological advancements, enhancing connectivity and creating numerous opportunities for socio-economic development.

APT’s role in facilitating dialogue and cooperation among member states has been crucial in addressing issues related to the allocation of the radio spectrum. These efforts have not only contributed to the efficient use of scarce resources but have also enhanced regional preparedness to embrace new technologies, ensuring that the Asia-Pacific region remains at the forefront of the global telecommunication and ICT landscape.

APT’s commitment to providing ongoing support to its members and engaging with relevant stakeholders underscores its role as a cornerstone of the telecommunication and ICT community in Asia-Pacific. This collaborative approach has been instrumental in addressing the complex challenges that our region faces, ensuring that we move forward together in unity and strength.

As we commemorate this 45th anniversary, it is imperative to acknowledge the collective efforts of all stakeholders involved in APT’s journey. From its leadership and staff to its members and partners, the APT family has shown an unwavering commitment to achieving a connected and technologically advanced Asia-Pacific region. APT’s ability to bring together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, and the scientific community has facilitated a holistic approach to addressing the challenges and seizing the opportunities that lie ahead.

As we look to the future, I am confident that APT will continue to lead by example, fostering innovation, and driving the development of the telecommunication and ICT sectors. The journey ahead is filled with both challenges and opportunities, but with APT’s guidance, the Asia-Pacific region is well-positioned to harness the potential of the digital era for the benefit of all.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity on its 45th anniversary. May we continue to thrive as a big family of Asia-Pacific, united in our efforts to build a more connected and prosperous region for generations to come.

Here's to many more years of success and innovation. Happy 45th Anniversary, APT!
